This is the band's most original album to date, with six original songs.

This album benefited from new technology, with better keyboard sounds. It also marks the first time the band used Reid's Simmons Drums on a track live, on "The Hunkering."

The first two verses of "Bar At The End Of The World" were written by Kerr and Pool in 2006, with Pool adding the final verse in 2009.

"Over The Limit" initially appeared on the Reid and the Riot Act album "Unfurnished Business."

"The Plan" and the bonus track "Blues For Chile" were both recorded at the same track, as part of an extended jam between Kerr and Roberson.

The band recorded several instrumentals during this session that didn't make the final cut of the album.
